Fried Squid Productions is the banner under which I (Seneca Haynes) do my independent work. You could say then, that Fried Squid is Seneca Haynes (for the time being, anyway). That being the case, it might be helpful to read in a bit more detail some of my thoughts about the mission goals. "produce the highest quality digital movies possible" Producing a movie can be done best with a team of people possessing a broad understanding of the technical skills required for the production. The production team should be composed of individuals with solid, practical experience working in a variety of capacities that can benefit the project. As a producer, I am dedicated to building this kind of team and being this kind of team memeber. As a director and a technician I know how liberating a flexible, multi-skilled team can be. After nearly a decade of proffessional experience I'm also well aquainted with the daily unpredictabilty of the production process. I encourage every person I work with to enhance their primary skills ceaselessly and to diversiy their knowledge base, both as it pertains to our industry and beyond. Understanding termonolgy is where most people begin. Experienceing the physical and mental demands of doing a new job and taking on a different kind of responsibilty instills in us a far more developed vocabulary, one that manifests itself in our behavior as well as our conversation. This is the mark of true understanding. The more understanding we develope of each others chosen roles, the clearer and more prolific our lines of communication become. Clear communication means saving time and resources in every project. Multiple specializations means coverage. Consider the likely possibilty that someone can't be on the set because they're sick. No problem; the team has it covered and the unexpected absence doesn't stall the process. Good communication and broad specializations makes room for smooth, collective actions in response to creative impulses that aren't scripted or brought up in earlier production meetings. This allows for (and encourages) valuable improvisation where the quality of footage is determined by the entire crews ability to intuit each other's needs at a moments notice. The desire to experiment with new techniques and ideas is an essential element in our drive to grow and improve. From the conception of ideas and script writing, to set design, actor performance and cinematography, every aspect of production has a place of exploration. As a producer and a director I am dedicated to preserving that space throughout the production process. I believe that is the 'how' and 'where' our art evolves and, ultimately, some of our most entertaining moments emerge from the unexpected. Finally, whatever role Fried Squid plays in a production, regardless of the budget, any project undertaken, bearing the Fried Squid logo, will meet and exceed the highest professional safety standards from start to finish. Abiding by strict safety standards is the Fried Squid way. This is absolute and the most important condition of any contract between Fried Squid and any individual or business entity. I actively practice the ideas I've just discussed in all my work. They are fundamental personal guidelines and by following them I, and those who work with me, are able to safely and consistently produce entertaining media that stands out noticably from the ever growing tide of the digital media standard. Fried Squid makes the stuff worth watching. "Promote productive, co-operative interplay between artists of all mediums." Film is a collaborative art. It's about sharing, adding, and playing. It's also about talking, thinking, and giving constructive criticism. An invaluable part of my development as an artist has been the precious time I have spent working in an atmopshere where I felt safe to freely express myself and could, when needed, get intelligent, openminded feedback. I am grateful for the many opportunities I've had to work in such supportive environments and I believe it is my responsibility to add to or foster that kind of environment wherever I go. The links page of this website is a good place for you to go from here. I've met and worked with a lot of very wonderful people. I encourage you to check out their webpages and discover them for yourself. "Support the continued development of space exploration." I personally make a donation to the NASA space program annually. Starting in 2008 this annual donation will be based on a percentage of sales for DVD's and other Fried Squid merchandise. I believe the space program is one of the best things we've got going for us and I want to do my small part to encourage everyone to get behind this considerable and very real adventure. There's a whole lot of Universe out there, so lets get movin'. Thank you for taking the time to get to know me a little better.
